SAVIGLIANO-On May 5, 2025, at the Milanollo theater in Savigliano, a free lesson will be held reserved for some schools in the cities of Savigliano, Racconigi and Marene

In line with the recent event held at the Papal Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi, promoted by the Ministry of Education and Merit in collaboration with the Uto Ughi Foundation, Savigliano also becomes the protagonist of a series of initiatives aimed at promoting classical and choral music as fundamental instruments of educational, cultural and social growth between the new generations and the entire community.

During the national meeting of Assisi, in the presence of Minister Giuseppe Valditara and Maestro Uto Ughi, the project “Uto Ughi for young people” was officially presented, the result of an important memorandum of understanding between the Ministry and the Uto Ughi Foundation.

The initiative aims to structurally integrate music into the educational paths of schools of all levels and grade, sensitizing students and teachers to the universal value of musical art, educating to listening, artistic sensitivity and sharing.

On this occasion, the birth of the National Orchestra of the Italian School was announced, an ambitious project wanted by Minister Valditara to enhance musical talents from high schools throughout Italy, which will officially debut in November 2025, flanked by regional orchestras.

This orchestra will represent not only an opportunity for educational excellence, but also an extraordinary example of aggregation and collaboration between young musicians, widespread musical culture widespread and bringing it closer to the general public.

Thanks to the collaboration between the Milan Coral Association, the Uto Ughi Foundation, the Ministry of Education and Merit and the Municipalities of Savigliano, Racconigi, Marene and Cuneo, and with the precious support of foundations, public bodies and private realities that share the educational and cultural vision of the project, important initiatives in the area will come to life.

On May 5, 2025, at the Milanollo theater in Savigliano, a free lesson will be held reserved for some educational institutions of the cities of Savigliano, Racconigi and Marene.

The event is made possible thanks to the support of the Cassa di Risparmio di Savigliano Foundation, the Banca Cassa di Risparmio di Savigliano, the Municipality of Savigliano, the Municipality of Marene and the Municipality of Racconigi.

The following day, May 6, 2025, the initiative will continue at the Toselli Theater in Cuneo, with a lesson-Convert reserved for some educational institutions in the city, created with the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo Foundation and the patronage of the Municipality of Cuneo. Both meetings will protagonist the master Uto Ughi, among the most illustrious contemporary violinists, accompanied by the pianist Leonardo Bartelloni.

The master will actively involve students in a musical and dialogical path, illustrating the works carried out, sharing reflections and answering the public questions. A profound and engaging educational experience, which underlines the value of music as a tool for personal growth and social inclusion.

These lessons-concurities will act as a tow to another important cultural and social event: the celebration of the fifty-year-old of the Milan choir and the XXXV International Choral Singing Review, dedicated to the memory of the founder Sergio Chiarlo, which from 13 to 15 June will bring to the city of Savigliano and Marene choirs from all over Europe.

The goal is to highlight the aggregative power of choral music as a bridge between different generations, creating opportunities for dialogue, sharing and integration. Particularly significant will be the evening of June 14 in Piazza Santarosa, which will combine the musical tradition with the historical city memory, also celebrating the bicentenary of the disappearance of Santorre di Santa Rosa, a central figure for the Saviglian identity.

All the events of June will be free and open to the entire citizenship, with the precise intent to make music accessible to everyone and spread it to the largest public possible, underlining the concrete commitment for a shared cultural and social inclusion.

The choice of these events is not accidental: actively involving citizenship of the municipalities of the province of Cuneo – often less central in traditional national artistic circuits – responds to the precise will to rebalance the cultural offer, enhancing local realities and their territories as live places of culture and participation.

All events will be subject to monitoring and qualitative and quantitative evaluation, directly involving schools, local authorities and communities, to concretely measure their educational, social and cultural impact, and guarantee continuity in the years to come.

This program is fully part of the vision of the Ministry of Education and merit, which in the new national indications for the school underlines the importance of deeply integrating music into the educational paths, since the kindergarten, including the study of the history of music, singing and careful training of teachers.

Finally, this project also arises in tune with the recent parliamentary resolution that invites all Italian schools to reflect on the 800 years of the Canticle of the creatures of San Francesco, a symbol of the spiritual and cultural roots of our civilization, showing how much music and culture can be privileged tools to rediscover and enhance our historical and human identity. We sincerely thank all those – public institutions, foundations, local companies and the entire community – which with their fundamental support make this important project possible, firmly believing that musical culture is a precious resource for the future of our society and our young people.
