Exposit He dreams of making a film of his own: to take care of every detail, from the subject to the script, from directing to production. It is the last thing that tells me during the inauguration event of the New Milanese pop up of Desigualopen to via Cino del Duca 2 from 9 to 11 Maywhen we meet to talk about his new collaboration with the Spanish brand – of which Global Ambassador is officially Not A Doll which started their creative partnership.
Directed by Waylon Bone, with the shots of Clara Balzary, the campaign portrays Esther in his apartment and on the streets of Los Angeles. A story that aims to shed light on this for Unequal It has always been a priority – to promote fashion as a form of authentic expression, break the patterns e challenge beauty stereotypes -, opening a window on the hidden side of success, showing a positive model in a world where the aesthetic canons are still rigid and oppressive. A real hymn to rebellion, in which the fresh, energetic and bold attitude of Ester – the same shown during our chat with a rare calm and kindness – and the new magnetic spring summer collection The brand encourage contemporary women to believe in themselves, to welcome imperfection and dress freely, with lightness and without fear of what others think. Reminding us between a hat and a t-shirt with the writing, like the dream in the plaintiff’s drawer, that none of us is a doll.
And of this, and much more, we talked to Ester Expósito on the occasion of the Milanese opening of Desigual.
How do you feel for this collaboration with Desigual?
«I am very happy because it is a Spanish brand that I have known since I was small and in which I identify myself a lot for the brand’s energy and its free, fresh, rebellious and full of personality DNA. I am very happy that he is creating trend all over the world and that he is reaching many different countries ».
How would you describe your style?
“I think it’s very eclectic. I like to try many different things, but for me it is something playful. I am not obsessed with it, I only try to have fun and feel comfortable in my skin ».
What are your style icons?
«Margot Robbie and Tyla. They are two modern icons that I love ».
A garment that considers you indispensable?
“Maybe the crop top.”
What makes a perfect outfit for you?
«That I wear it for myself, not for others. And that makes me feel comfortable ».
The new Desigual campaign that sees you protagonist aims to fight female beauty stereotypes, enhancing beauty and imperfection. Have you ever personally heard this type of pressure?
«Yes, the pressure that we women feel in industry is enormous: we must be perfect. The company should stop treating us as objects and starting to consider us human beings that grow, change, evolve: that they must not, and can always be perfect ».
What would you mean women who often feel they are not enough?
“We are all enough. That in love you can find the courage to go on and to be anyone who wants to be, to dress in any way you want to dress, without worrying about anyone if not oneself. To feel free and comfortable in your skin and body because it is the place where you will be for a lifetime and therefore you have to begin to make friends. Only in this way can you have a more solid backbone, which will help you overcome difficult moments, criticisms, stereotypes and anything else ».
What do you feel, however, to women who dream of becoming actresses like you?
«To watch many movies, as much as possible. Which is a very difficult profession, and to do it you have to put all your commitment and passion, and then to believe in oneself and not be afraid to create one’s own story. I mean not to wait for the phone to ring, but for example of writing the stories they would like to act: because perhaps one day they will be able to do both, and get a film or a story that they have written and in which to act ».
And what is your dream, instead?
“My dream is to develop a film of my own, that is, write it, direct it and produce it.”
