The micra is back. This time without petrol, with French accent and with the hope that it is not yet another defeat of the “King: Nissan”. What will the small Franco-nipponic electric crossover, the new Nissan Micra 2026 will bring?

The new Nissan Micra 2026 is the result of the close collaboration between Nissan and Renault: it is essentially a Renault 5 with the Nissan brand. It differs in design with more rounded lines that recall the mini cooper and with the addition of plastic finishes that give it a crossover appearance. The overall length is less than 4 meters and the width is less than 1.8 meters, which makes it a compact city car.

Electric traction and performance: New Nissan Micra 2026

The new Nissan Micra 2026 will be available with two battery packs:

  • 40 kWh: 121 hp (90 kW), 225 nm of torque, autonomy up to 310 km (193 miles).
  • 52 kWh: 148 hp (110 kW), 245 Nm of torque, autonomy up to 408 km (254 miles).

Both versions support quick charging: 80 kW for the smaller battery and 100 kW for the larger one, allowing top -up from 15 % to 80 % in about 30 minutes.

Interior and technology

The interiors of Micra are almost identical to those of the Renault 5, with two 10.1 -inch screens and environmental lighting at 48 colors. There are three different themes for the interiors: modern, bold and relaxing. The trunk volume is 326 liters, higher than the average of the segment.

Driving dynamics

Micra uses the AMPR Small platform, which includes multi-link rear suspension, a rarity in this class. This promises a better driving dynamics and greater comfort. Thanks to the reduced weight (1,400 kg for the smaller battery and 1,524 kg for the larger one) and the compact dimensions, the micra is agile and suitable for driving in the city.

R5 against the new Nissan Micra 2026

The new Nissan Micra 2026 represents an interesting combination of Japanese and French car philosophies. Although they are basically a Renault 5 with a different brand, it offers some unique technological and design solutions. Thanks to the two battery options, quick charging and modern interiors, Micra is a competitive choice in the electric City Car segment. It remains to be seen if it will be able to convince buyers who are looking for something more than a simple revisited version of an existing model.
