Fujifilm X Half (X-HF1) is a digital camera that pretends to be analog: it has a rewind lever, an optical viewfinder and no raw option. Get ready for a digital experience that will have the perfume of the film.
Fujifilm is known for its ability to combine modern technology with the charm of the past. With the new Fujifilm X Half (X-HF1) camera (officially X-HF1), they took a further step forward: they created a digital camera that pretends to be analog. And with all my heart.
The Fujifilm X Half (X-HF1) is a tribute to the classic Half-Frame cameras, such as the Fujica Half of 1963. These cameras took twice the photos on 35 mm film using only half of the frame. Fujifilm brought this idea to the digital era with a 1 -inch vertically oriented sensor (8.8 x 13.3 mm) and a fixed lens of 10.8 mm f/2.8 (equivalent to 32 mm). The camera weighs only 240 grams and is small enough to be in the pocket or in the heart of any lover of the retro aesthetic.

Features you didn’t know you needed-Fujifilm X Half (X-HF1)
X Half is not just a camera, it’s an experience. It is equipped with an optical viewfinder that brings you back to the times when you had to look through the viewfinder to see what you were photographing. The main screen is a 2.4 -inch LCD with a 3: 4 aspect ratio, ideal for vertical shots so loved by Instagram and Tiktok users.

But real fun begins with the “Frame Advance Lever”, or the rewind lever that you have to move after each shot if you use the “Film Camera Mode”. In this mode, you can choose a film simulation (there are 13 available, including Provia, Velvia and Acros) and a “film length” (36, 54 or 72 frames). Each shot is irreversible, without Raw option: only pure Jpeg, as in the old days.
2 in 1: Art diptych
One of the most interesting characteristics is the “2 in 1” mode, which allows you to combine two vertical shots in a single image. It is ideal for creating stories through photography, for example before and after, day and night, smile and tear. Using the X Half app, you can further change these diptychs, change the order or add filters.

Filters that smell of nostalgia
In addition to the classic Fujifilm film simulations, the Fujifilm X Half (X-HF1) also offers three new filters: “Light Leak” for an effect of loss of light, “Halation” for a glow around the light and “Expired Film” sources for a grainy and vintage aesthetic. Add the options “Grana Effect” and “Timbro Data” and you will get photos that seem to have taken decades ago, even if they have just been taken.

The price of nostalgia
The X Half will be available at the end of June 2025 at the price of $ 849.99. It is not a negligible figure for a camera that does not take in RAW format and has a fixed objective. But if you are looking for a digital camera that offers you an analog experience without the need to develop the film, the X Half could be the right choice for you.
Conclusion: a camera for those who love the past
Fujifilm X Half is not suitable for everyone. It is not suitable for those looking for technical perfection or versatility. It is for those who appreciate experience, aesthetics and nostalgia. It is for those who want the camera to slow them down, who reflect on each shot and enjoy the creative process. If you are among them, x Half is perfect for you.
