When the gods of the Olympus of the car begin to deal with electricity, something happens … interesting. Nissan promises that the new GT-R “will redefine the concept of sports cars”. The only question is: are we listening to the whisper of the future or the last cry of an iconic past?
After almost two decades of domain on the road and on the track, Nissan the GT-R R35 will officially leave the production line in February 2025. A legend known as “Godzilla”, does not say goodbye forever. The Nissan managers confirm that the next generation of the Nissan GT-R R36 is already under development and that something completely new is coming.
Retired godzilla – and perhaps to recharge
The R35, the Japanese car, completed its journey after almost two decades. It was like a game console on wheels, which humiliated the supercars three times more expensive. But now it’s time for something new: the Nissan GT-R R36. Arnaud Charpentier of Nissan states that the new GT-R must “reset the rules of the game”. Electric traction? Perhaps. But it shouldn’t become an SUV with the GT-R adhesive. If it must be electric, then it must have a soul and performance.

The concept of Hyper Force: dream or reality?
A concept of 2023 called Hyper strengthoffers 1,341 HP and a futuristic design. Nissan says that it is a “vision”, which in automotive jargon means: “We are still very far from mass production”.

Technical limitations of the new era
Ponz Pandikuthira, head of planning at Nissan North America, has hinted that the new GT-R could share the platform with the next generation of Acura NSX. Although fully electric prototypes of the Nissan GT-R R36 have been tested, problems of autonomy and performance emerged, shifting attention to hybrid solutions. The fully electric GT-R prototypes are currently too voracious: they can last a tour of the nürburgring and then they must be recharged. Therefore, a hybrid version is more promising. More realistic. More useful.

When will we see it?
Although the official dates are not yet known, the new Nissan GT-R R36 is expected to arrive on the market by 2030. The new GT-R will not only be the continuation of the legend, but could also define a new chapter in the world of sports cars.

Conclusion
The new GT-R R36 wants to be a bridge between two worlds: that of the eighties and that of electrons. If he succeeds, we will talk about Godzilla again. This time, the type that works with batteries.
