The Forestry Carabinieri Station of Saluzzo, upon reporting of private citizens, recently recovered a specimen of Pellegrino hawk inside a building in Piazza Cavour in the municipality of Saluzzo. The animal after the predation of a pigeon was unable to resume flight, therefore it was brought to the Wild Animal Recovery Center of Bernezzo (CN) for the health checks.
After the pharmacological care and the rehearsals in the aviary was therefore established the return in nature for the bird of prey, a result with slight poisoning from Rodenticidi, for second assimilation.
With the availability of the Italian Environment Fund (Fai) the liberation in nature took place in the appliances of the Castle of Manta (CN) with a suitable habitat with large green areas and far from sources of strong anthropic disorder.
It should be remembered that the Pellegrino hawk is a protected air predator and considered by the ornithologists to be the fastest living being in the world capable of reaching a beaten speed of 300 km/h.
