Gay hookup and dating app Grindr has started asking its members to consent to having their user data harvested to help to train new AI powered features for the app as it seeks to rebrand itself as a “Global Gayborhood in Your Pocket.”
“We ask for your consent to use certain types of your data that privacy laws define as sensitive to help deliver AI Technology, enabling a more personalised Grindr experience for the Grindr community,” a message sent to users states.
“This includes new intelligent features tailored to individual interests, like recommend connections and a personal chatbot.”
