ingredients
- 500 g of minced meat
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- ½ medium onion (finely chopped)
- ½ green pepper (chopped)
- 1 tablespoon of chopped garlic
- 2 tablespoons of tomato puree
- 200 ml of tomato sauce (or tomato sauce)
- 2 tablespoons of ketchup
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon of mustard (classic yellow)
- ½ teaspoon of chilli powder (to taste)
- ½ teaspoon of paprika powder (sweet)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 4 sandwiches or soft sandwiches to serve
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the ground meat and brown it until it is completely golden and crumbled. If necessary, drain excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion, the green pepper and the garlic. Brown for a few minutes, until the vegetables become soft and fragrant.
- Add the tomato puree and cook for another minute to mix the flavors.
- Add tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, worker sauce, mustard, chilli pepper powder, paprika, salt and pepper to taste. Mix well to mix all the ingredients uniformly.
- Lower the flame and let the sauce gently simmer for about 10-15 minutes, until it thickens well.
- Serve by pouring a generous spoonful of sauce on the sandwich. If desired, you can add a few slice of cheese, sliced cucumber or onion rings to give greater consistency.
Tips for an even better sloppy Joe:
For an even more intense flavor, add grated cherdar cheese to the end. Spicy food lovers can add a pinch of spicy sauce or further chilli powder. For a touch of freshness, add lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers cut into thin slices.
