Following reporting and subsequent investigations, the Forestry Carabinieri of Ormea recently sanctioned 5 Sanremese motorcyclists who, with enduro motorcycle, had traveled in the summer the so -called path of the “Cannoniera” which from the Tanarello Pass leads to the “Don Barbera” refuge.
This area, at the turn of the Italian Italian border, is characterized by various forms of underground karst and valuable naturalistic emergencies (including forty exclusive endemisms of the Western Alps) and assumes the role of “zipper” territory between the Mediterranean and the Middle European region, so much so that for some years it has been recognized by the European Union as a special conservation area “Alta Valle Pese and Tanaro.
The aforementioned unruly endurists then admitted their responsibilities and were sanctioned for a total amount, to a reduced extent, of € 1,500.00.
The rule in force aims to protect the mountain and rural environments of our territory allowing motorized transit only on public roads or on roads specially authorized by the Municipalities with specific regulations or for particular motivations (achievement of your fund, agrosilvopastoral works, public rescue, scientific purposes).
The indiscriminate use of the means outside the roads or by the authorized routes can degrade the natural environment, triggering for example erosive processes and deteriorating the regional feeling network, sometimes making it impracticable to users (cyclists and runners).
The forest carabinieri are available to implement the reports of citizens on environmental critical issues through the single emergency number 112 as well as to provide information on the correct use of the mountain.
