In 2025 the association “Friends of the music of Savigliano” celebrates a prestigious goal: its fiftieth year of activity. A half century of uninterrupted commitment that made the association a cultural reference point with relevance not only for the local territory, but also on a national and international scale. From May 2025 a new edition of the musical review “Recondite Armonie” begins, an event dedicated to music and its ability to evoke deep emotions, intertwining sounds and sensations on a timeless artistic journey. Also this year “Recondite harmonies” will bring talented musicians to stage, with a program that ranges from great classics to the most innovative sounds, offering spectators a musical experience worthy of the name.
Through concerts, meetings with artists and moments of study, the review aims to enhance the beauty of music and its power to unite people. The first event will be held in Savigliano (CN) on the evening of Thursday 22 May at the Palazzo Taffini d’Acceglio, then in different suggestive places, creating a dialogue between the music and spaces that host it, with the aim of making the harmonies resonate in their most authentic and engaging dimension. The first appointment sees on the scene an international excellence between music, teaching and social commitment: the “cantabile duo”, or the Romanian cellarist Simona Barbu and the Japanese pianist Nariaki Sugiura, two prominent artists in the international music scene and respectively teachers at the University of North Dakota. An ensemble that stands out for its high artistic quality and commitment to musical training. The “duo” has undertaken a vast concert and teaching activity on a global scale, performing and keeping masterclass, conferences and seminars in prestigious institutions such as the “Staatliche Hochschule Fur Musik” in Mannheim in Germany and the “Twin Cites” university, just to mention some academies.
With a repertoire that enhances original transcriptions and works commissioned to American and contemporary composers, the “Cantabile duo” stands out for the constant search for new musical expressions. In 2023, Simona Barbu and Nariaki Sugiura, founded the “Medara Music Academy” – of which they are both artistic directors – with the aim of enriching the cultural and educational fabric of the American Midwest. Their activity also extends to the creation of interdisciplinary and intercultural events, actively involving students at national and international level. Recently, the “duo” received the prestigious “Joyce and aqueil ahmad endowment for the promotion of peace and nonviolence”, which will engage them in a series of concerts in favor of disadvantaged communities, underlining their strong social commitment in addition to the artistic one. Their concert and academic activities have also led to recognition as guest professors at important institutions, such as the “East China Normal University”, confirming their significant contribution of international musical education. The “cantabile duo” continues to inspire the public from all over the world with his own art and his commitment, combining virtuosity, educational passion and attention to the human value of music. Among the various songs in the lineup we point out “Four Seasons for Cello and Piano” by Jonas Fisher, “Suite for Cello and Piano” by Bruce Stark, “Fantasiestucke” by Robert Schumann and “6 Romance” by Sergei Rachmanioff. The first notes are around 9.00 pm, the ticket costs 10 euros. More information can be had at 0172711608 – 0172712409 – 3936899470.
